Spring Fair Announces Akon as Headliner

After much deliberation, Spring Fair has announced their headliner for Spring Fair 2016: Akon. The Grammy-nominated R&B singer, best known for his 2006 number one single “I Wanna Love You,” will be performing April 16th in the Robert H. Scott Gymnasium in the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center.

The selection process was intense; Spring Fair considered a number of artists as potential headliners but finally settled with Akon. Artists who did not make the cut included Destiny’s Child (but only Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams), Aaron Carter, Bowling for Soup, and Chamillionaire.

Akon is fresh off the release of his fourth album “Stadium” and nearly ten years off his relevance in middle schools across the nation, but he is excited to perform for the Johns Hopkins community.

Tickets will be sold at the price of $18 and while outside food and beverages are not allowed in the venue, concert goers who want to ‘snack that’ can purchase concessions at the concert. Opening the show for Akon will be Hopkins’ own favorite boy band, the Serenading Beta Boyz.
